Vietnam, a significant beneficiary of the US-China trade war during Trump’s first term, now faces challenges within its domestic economy and the international economic environment, particularly from the expected escalation of US protectionism under Trump 2.0. Despite posting respectable growth rates, Vietnam is struggling to undertake the economic transition from a low-cost export model to one focused on human capital development and innovation, a shift which is necessary to achieve its goal of becoming a developed country by the middle of the century.
