With the lifting of the ban on the import of four Thai fruits by Vietnam, Thailand has regained market leader status taking a 61.8-per-cent share of Vietnamese fruit and vegetable imports, according to the Thai Ministry of Commerce.
Vietnam had earlier banned imports of Thai mangoes, longans, lychees and rambutans,
Commerce Minister Apiradee Tantraporn said Thai fruit and vegetable exports to Vietnam were bound to grow.
“During the first seven months of this year, Thai exports to Vietnam grew by 3.2 per cent while Thai fruits and vegetables have a 61.8-per-cent share of all imported fruit and vegetable products in Vietnam, followed by China with 16 per cent,” she said.
Fruit and vegetable imports from India and New Zealand are also increasing, she said.
