Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman has become Malaysia’s youngest-ever minister after he was sworn in as the Youth and Sports Minister on Monday, Channel News Asia reports. The 25-year-old was one of the 13 ministers and 23 deputy ministers sworn in before Malaysia’s king. Syed Saddiq has been a key part of Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad’s “youth strategy” and was recently named as the leader’s youth minister. The rising star in Malaysia’s politics has certainly helped Mahathir, as has the nation’s current love for throwbacks, writes Karim Raslan for the South China Morning Post. Mahathir said on Monday three more ministers would be appointed to bring the number of Cabinet ministers to 29, The Straits Times reports.
