Myanmar’s civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi has welcomed an unprecedented army admission that security forces carried out extrajudicial killings of Rohingya Muslims as a “positive step”, state-backed media reported on Saturday. Myanmar’s military said its soldiers had murdered 10 captured Muslim “terrorists” during insurgent attacks at the beginning of September, after Buddhist villagers had forced the captured men into a grave they had dug. Meanwhile, a Rohingya rebel group says 10 Rohingyas found in a mass grave in December were not its members.
