Persons with disabilities (PWDs) say Singapore has come a long way in inclusive hiring over the last 15-20 years, as it seeks to achieve a 40 per cent target of employment for adult PWDs by 2030. With various government schemes for both employers and PWDs, it is now easier for them to get training and find jobs. However, PWDs and advocates for them say that misconceptions among employers a key challenge, among others. Beyond boosting employment rate, the PWDs and advocates also speak of the importance of career mobility and progression. They also suggest ways to boost inclusivity at the workplace, including the need for greater accommodation by companies.
