A recent household budget study by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP) and a follow-up survey commissioned by The Straits Times have once again raised an important question: Are Singapore’s seniors equipped for retirement?  The LKYSPP study found that a single senior will need at least S$1,379 a month to meet basic needs, and The Straits Times survey found that 41 per cent of retirees do not have such funds in retirement. Among this group, 28 per cent say they fall short by at least half the recommended amount.
