Metro Manila is now officially under a “community quarantine” as police and military set up checkpoints in the region’s boundaries to contain the outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). The quarantine took effect at 12 midnight on Sunday based on the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Infectious Disease Resolution 11. It will be lifted on April 14. A total of 26,000 policemen will be deployed in Metro Manila to enforce the quarantine, according to MGen. Debold Sinas, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief.
