Among Myanmar’s diverse demographic groups, the young generation has been one of the most adversely affected cohorts of the 2021 military coup. Heightened insecurity, the crippled economy, shrinking education access and career prospects and the overall deterioration of socioeconomic wellbeing have pushed young people towards migration. The systemic origins of this human capital crisis, along with global geopolitical shifts, underscore the need for Myanmar’s leading resistance forces to demonstrate tangible achievements and domestic and international credibility.
