Following numerous atrocities including alleged genocide against the Rohingya minority, the International Criminal Court’s Prosecutor has lodged an application for an arrest warrant for Myanmar’s military junta leader, Min Aung Hlaing. While recent years have seen numerous states defy and undermine the international courts, this application, alongside other recent ICC and ICJ actions, highlights their enduring importance in holding the perpetrators of wrongdoing to account.
