The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) has issued a directive prohibiting its members, officials, troops, and affiliates from traveling to ASEAN countries, the United States, and other Western nations without prior authorization. The ban extends to participation in conferences, media interviews, and public expression of opinions on Myanmar’s political situation.

According to the MNDAA’s statement, the travel restrictions were imposed due to concerns about potential interference by foreign powers in Myanmar’s internal affairs, which could result in significant shifts in the national landscape. The prohibition aims to prevent unnecessary disputes and conflicts, particularly given the country’s ongoing complex situation. The MNDAA also emphasized that its members are forbidden from attending international conferences on Myanmar-related issues, accepting interviews from foreign media and Western journalists, or expressing any stance on national matters without official approval. In a separate announcement last month, the MNDAA clarified that it would not expand military operations into Mandalay or Taunggyi, nor would it form alliances with the National Unity Government (NUG) or the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs). Earlier, in late August, China’s Special Envoy for Asian Affairs, Mr. Deng Xijun, held a meeting with the United Wa State Army (UWSA). During the meeting, Deng expressed China’s strong disapproval of the Kokang army’s (MNDAA) attempts to occupy Lashio and the ongoing conflicts in northern Shan State involving the Three Brotherhood Alliance.
