Following a visit by their representatives to the Rohingya Refugee Camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh the governments of Japan, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States have issued a statement telling Rohingya refugees that they have not been forgotten. Below is an excerpt of the 14 May 2024 joint statement by the governments of Japan, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States: to Rohingya refugees we say: you are not forgotten. As representatives of government donors, we underscore the urgent need for sustained international support to protect and save the lives of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.  Following their visit to Cox’s Bazar, the following governments have announced their contributions and support for IOM’s Appeal under the 2024 Joint Response Plan for the Rohingya Humanitarian Crisis: the United States has announced a contribution of USD 7.6 million; Japan has already contributed USD 2.6 million and Norway has announced a contribution of NOK 6.5 million  The following countries have expressed political support for this Joint Statement and for the 2024 Joint Response Plan for the Rohingya Humanitarian Crisis:  Sweden, Switzerland.  Read more at: https://eng.mizzima.com/2024/05/16/9959
