Addressing the China Entrepreneurs Club Leaders Forum in Beijing on Sunday, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said his administration would go all out to forge better ties with China and would focus on economic development rather than confrontation, Bernama news agency reports. Mahathir has been open in his criticism of Chinese ventures in his home country for being too expensive. He has so far suspended three-China backed projects worth around $22 billion that were signed under the previous administration. Apart from renegotiating the infrastructure deals, trade issues, strategic ties and the South China Sea dispute – which both countries are party to – are expected to be discussed in his Monday’s meetings with China President Xi Jinping, according to South China Morning Post.
