Six months into his presidency, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has yet to articulate a consistent and coherent foreign policy. Indonesia’s refusal to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the 1955 Bandung Conference, a milestone that once defined their diplomatic identity, evidences Subianto’s directionless approach to diplomacy. To regain global relevance and standing, Indonesia needs to recover its voice and values, grounding future actions and decisions in a purpose-driven vision that reflects Indonesia’s historic leadership role rather than emphasizing personal positioning.
