In order to secure scarce critical mineral supply chains, Indonesia must advocate for investment in new processing facilities, expand its refining capacity and form strategic alliances with other resource-rich countries like Australia and the Philippines. As council member of the International Seabed Authority, Indonesia should contribute to drafting deep-sea mining regulations that are equitable and environmentally friendly, while also pursuing global partnerships to encourage sustainable mining, refining and manufacturing within its critical minerals sector.
