Indonesia will host the international Ocean Impact Summit (OIS) in Bali on June 8–9, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s maritime agenda following discussions at the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. Hendra Yusran Siry, special staff to the Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister, said the summit will bring together thousands of participants from hundreds of countries, including heads of state, political leaders, and global CEOs. The event is a key opportunity to highlight the importance of oceans and freshwater under the “Blue Davos” theme, which stresses water ecosystems’ role in global stability, trade, food, and climate resilience. While the economic value of aquatic ecosystems is significant, investment in the sector remains relatively low. The summit will focus on three main issues: freshwater management and access, blue food security, and ocean protection coupled with blue economy development. “We also hope this will encourage greater investment in the blue economy,” Hendra added during a press briefing at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries in Central Jakarta on Thursday. The ministry plans to leverage the forum to strengthen blue economy diplomacy. Read more at:
