As the coronavirus outbreak gains pace in Indonesia, so far affecting 17 out of 34 provinces, the number of infected persons could grow to between 600,000 and 700,000, a government spokesman said on Friday. The number of confirmed cases in the country increased by 60 to 369 with seven more deaths to bring the total number of fatalities to 32 on Friday, said Achmad Yurianto, a spokesman for the government handling of Covid-19 outbreak. “From our calculation, the number of population at risk is between 600,000 and 700,000. It is for that reason that the government is preparing 1 million testing kits for mass examinations to identify positive cases,” Achmad said in a televised address in Jakarta.
