Southeast Asia faces “very real” threats from the Islamic State (IS) group despite their defeat in the Middle East, as well as cyberattacks, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong warned on Saturday as he opened the 2018 ASEAN Summit. Lee and other leaders at the Summit also agree that the growing trade dispute between the US and China could be damaging to the region, warning that ASEAN countries might be forced to react to unfavorable external pressure. Meanwhile, Indonesian President Joko Widodo urged ASEAN to strengthen its unity and take a central role in developing the framework of the Indo-Pacific strategy to move toward inclusive cooperation
