In a special message today addressing the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam triangle development cooperation framework, Mr Hun Sen, former Prime Minister and President of the Senate of Cambodia, firmly denied allegations that he had signed an agreement to integrate Khmer territory into Vietnamese territory through the establishment of the Triangle Development Cooperation (CLV). He declared, “Cambodia, under my leadership, did not sign any agreement to integrate Cambodian territory into the territory of Vietnam.” According to the Senate President, the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle (CLV-DTA) is designed to promote and facilitate trade between the three nations. The agreements focus on exchanging goods and services and land transport between Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos. “These agreements are not a land grab, as extremists claim to pollute society,” he emphasized. The CLV-DTA, established by the governments of the three nations in 2004, covers four Cambodian provinces (Ratanakiri, Stung Treng, Mondulkiri, and Kratie province), four Lao provinces (Attapeu, Salavan, Sekong, and Champasak province), and five Vietnamese provinces (Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, and Binh Phuoc province).
