Brunei’s 2025 was defined by political continuity and technocratic adjustment, but economic growth stalled as softer energy prices and oil and gas maintenance weighed on activity and exposed the limits of diversification. While low inflation, regulatory reforms and new sustainable finance frameworks strengthened resilience, stability remained highly concentrated in hydrocarbons and centralized authority, leaving Brunei vulnerable as it moves into 2026.
