Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Tuesday called for the 16 countries involved in negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) to adjust their ambitions to “realistic levels”, five years after the process started.  Leaders of the 16 nations resolved on Tuesday to conclude the talks within 2018. The plan had been to finalize a deal this year. China has been promoting an alternate vision for regional trade with the RCEP, which includes Australia, India and more than a dozen other countries, but not the US.
