Malaysia will issue a protest note to Singapore over the operation of the instrument landing system (ILS) to be used by Seletar Airport near its border with Johor, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke, The Star reports. Singapore Ministry of Transport (MOT) has rejected the contention that Malaysia’s sovereignty is compromised in any manner because Singapore provides air traffic services over south Johor. “Singapore respects Malaysia’s sovereignty … The purpose of airspace management is to ensure the safety and efficiency of air traffic,” the MOT said. In another statement issued Tuesday, Singapore has lodged a “strong protest” with the Malaysian government over its move to extend the Johor Bahru port limits “in a manner which encroaches into Singapore’s territorial waters off Tuas”.
