Two major political parties in Indonesia are toying with the idea of forming a coalition to take on President Joko Widodo when he runs for re-election next year, raising the possibility of an all-army ticket against the incumbent, the Straits Times reports. Yudhoyono has revealed his party is considering three options ahead of the upcoming presidential election. The Democratic Party was neutral in the previous presidential election. It didn’t join either the Great Indonesia Coalition or Red White Coalition. But A plan to establish a third coalition for the 2019 presidential election by midsized political parties may now be at stake after National Awakening Party (PKB) chairman Muhaimin Iskandar announced his party’s support for incumbent President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
