A proposal for Malaysia’s longest serving prime minister Mahathir Mohamad to take the top position again has received majority support from the opposition coalition, Pakatan Harapan, sources told Channel NewsAsia. The proposal for Mahathir to become PH’s candidate is meant to attract Malay nationalists. This is according to political analysts, who believe that the former prime minister will be able to attract significant numbers of traditional Umno and Barisan Nasional voters. Meanwhile, Selangor Royal Court wants Mahathir investigated for sedition, for allegedly inciting hatred towards Bugis descent.
