Malaysia’s central bank said on Thursday it had foiled a cyber attack in which fraudulent messages to transfer funds were sent on the SWIFT transactions platform, the latest in a series of electronic heists at financial institutions around the world.  Earlier this month, Indonesia’s National Police revealed a network responsible for an ATM skimming scam involving Romanians, Hungarians, and an Indonesian hacking into 64 banks in several countries. Member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations need to significantly step up their spending on cybersecurity to tackle digital threats, according to a new report.
