Four Finns have been arrested on a holiday island in Muslim-majority Malaysia for allegedly distributing pamphlets about Christianity, police said Wednesday, and may face up to five years in jail, Agence-France Presse reports. Converts from Islam in Malaysia experience the worst persecution, as every ethnic Malay is considered Muslim. Converts are viewed as law-breakers, as well as traitors to society, their families and neighbors, according to Open Doors. Hadi Awang, the president of Islamic party PAS, said recently Muslims must oppose the ratification of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) as such a move would place Islam on the “same level” as other religions in the country.
