Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday punished an anti-graft prosecutor suspected of leaking his bank records after an opposition politician had accused Duterte of corruption. Previously, Duterte said he won’t cooperate with a special investigation into his alleged wealth by the national anti-corruption agency, accusing the body of “selective justice” and prioritizing him over more serious violations. Corruption is still a big problem in doing business in the Philippines, according to the World Economic Forum Report (WEFR), which cited corruption, together with government bureaucracy and the lack of an efficient infrastructure system, as the most important problems in doing business in the Philippines.
